The central defender was reportedly rushed to hospital after the incident
Newcastle United centre-back Ciaran Clark was knocked unconscious after being an attacked in a Magaluf bar on Saturday.
The Republic of Ireland international, who joined the Magpies from Aston Villa in 2016, was reportedly attacked by a man with whom he had previously had an altercation.
The 28-year-old is said to have been rushed to Son Espases Hospital in Palma, the Majorcan capital, after the incident.
Clark is believed to have been punched twice by the man, after a disagreement over being pushed on the dance floor, once at the entrance of the bar and a second time shortly after leaving.
The attacker was arrested after the incident – which took place at a bar called Crystal’s – while Clark was there with friends, he was later released on bail ahead of a court appearance.
The former Villa defender featured 20 times for Newcastle United in the Premier League last season, but has seen himself become a far more prominent figure for the Republic of Ireland international side.
He partnered Brighton defender Shane Duffy during Ireland’s unsuccessful World Cup play off tie with Denmark in November, which Martin O’Neill’s side lost 5-1.
