Police in Albufeira detained him in the early hours of Tuesday morning
A British tourist has been arrested in the Algarve, Portugal for allegedly raping another UK holidaymaker.
The 23-year-old man is believed to have attacked a 17-year-old girl, who has since been taken to hospital in Faro, in the holiday destination of Albufeira.
Two police officers were injured during the arrest, according to local media.
The attack is believed to have taken place close to Oura beach, near the town’s popular nightlife strip, in the early hours of Tuesday June 26.
Portuguese GNR officers handed the suspect to the Policia Judiciaria force for questioning.
