That’s the end of that one then. (For now)
There’s absolutely no way at all that Neymar’s off to Real Madrid any time soon. Nope, not happening.
But hey, don’t take that from us; take it from Florentino Perez and the rest of the guys in charge at the Bernabeu…
On Monday night, they saw fit to issue a statement insisting they absolutely-definitely-100% have *not* made an offer to Paris Saint-Germain for the Brazilian international. This came as a result of reports in Spain which claimed the European champions had indeed tabled a bid for Neymar.
Real expressed their surprise at the ‘absolutely untrue’ claims being broadcast without anyone thinking to check with the club first.
‘In light of information broadcast tonight by TVE regarding an alleged Real Madrid offer to PSG and their player Neymar, Real Madrid C. F. wishes to state that this information is absolutely untrue. Real Madrid has made no offer of any kind to PSG or the player.
‘Real Madrid are surprised that the Spanish public television network would choose to broadcast entirely false information without anyone from the outlet having first contacted any of the parties concerned to corroborate the supposed information, which would have been quite easily discredited.‘
Neymar only joined PSG a year ago, becoming the most expensive player of all time when he completed his move to the French capital from Barcelona.
Since then, rumours have repeatedly surfaced that Neymar fancies a return to La Liga, only this time with Barca’s great El Clasico rivals.
For now though, this doesn’t look to be happening. For now. Don’t be surprised at all if such speculation picks up speed once again when the World Cup is done and dusted in a couple of weeks.
Neymar scored for Brazil as they booked their spot on the quarter finals with a win against Mexico earlier on Monday. They will now face Belgium, who beat Japan on Monday evening.
