Love Island, you may have noticed, had been going on for a very, very long time…
So long, in fact, that it was even up and running a good couple of weeks before the start of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which already feels like it happened in about 1993.
But as of Monday night, Love Island 2018 is no more. Dry those eyes.
On Twitter, Harry Maguire, one of the stars of England’s completely unexpected march to the semi-finals over in Russia, was one of those to acknowledge the finale of the 2018 edition of ITV2’s impossible-to-avoid reality show.
The defender, whose value on the transfer market has probably multiplied by about eight since the first Love Island contestants first set foot in the villa, marked the occasion by pointing out what they’d all missed out on…
‘What a summer they’ve missed,’ he tweeted – quote tweeting a video of his Slab-Headed self powering home England’s opener in their quarter-final against Sweden.
Love island final… What a summer they’ve missed. ⚽️🏴☀️ https://t.co/fJF4sQrZ02

A point well made, Slab-Head.
Understandably, the tweet swiftly racked up the retweets and drew plenty of comments… most of which making reference to the size oh his head.
Love you slab head

You get the gist.
So that’s that then. For the Love Island contestants of 2018… well, they’re coming home.
