Fair play, this is excellent
Sampdoria today announced the signing of Ronaldo Vieira – I know, what a name – from Leeds United. The central midfielder is highly rated among the Leeds fanbase but new coach Marcelo Bielsa is seemingly not keen on the player and has wasted no time in shipping him off.
Sampdoria took full advantage of this opportunity to post one of the wittiest transfer announcements of the summer.
As you may remember, Juventus signed Cristiano Ronaldo this summer from Real Madrid. It was quite a big deal, and Juventus announced the arrival of their new forward with a brilliantly designed video, in which Ronaldo’s name was projected in the classic black and white striped pattern seen on Juventus’ home kit.
Sampdoria have mimicked that design with their announcement of Ronaldo Vieira because, well, why not? It’s not every day you sign a player called Ronaldo.
They’ve even added their signature blue, white, red and black stripe across the bottom.
