Tom Lawrence is fast becoming one of Frank Lampard’s most important players.
It was Lawrence’s late header last weekend that completed the comeback for Derby County against Reading and on Saturday, he showed that he’s not too shabby with the ball at his feet either.
Lampard recently challenged Lawrence to prove himself a consistent goal threat for the Rams and the Welshman clearly listened.
In an all-action first half against Leeds United at Pride Park this weekend, the hosts fell behind to a curling effort from Mateusz Klich from outside the box.
But Lawrence wasn’t to be bested in the long range strike department and when he stood over a free-kick from 30 yards, he knew it was going to take something special to find the net.

And while Leeds ‘keeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell definitely could have done better, there’s no denying the quality of the hit.
Lawrence looks to be relishing the chance to soak up every bit of Lampard’s knowledge and he is well on his way to bettering his goal tally from last season.
The 24-year-old scored six goals in 42 games last term and with two in two already in this campaign, he will be one to watch throughout Lampard’s debut season in management.
