Oh, Alisson. No, no, no
When he was signed for Liverpool, Alisson’s sole remit was to essentially be much better and to not faff about with the ball like his predecessor, Loris Karius, used to infamously do.
So far in the nascent stage of this season he has done just that, performing admirably with solid saves and some spectacular pieces of footwork.
Throughout each of those displays of dizzying skill however there was a feeling; an eerie sense that it was close to going wrong.
Perhaps those of us who have watched Liverpool recently are simply scarred by the sight of Loris Karius making regular and painful mistakes.
Or perhaps it was clairvoyance, because against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, Alisson committed an error that even his predecessor would have winced at.
Receiving a poor back pass, Alisson refused the option to simply clear the ball and instead chose to try and outsmart Wilfred Ndidi. Well, outsmart him he didn’t, as Ndidi dispossessed him and squared the ball to Rachid Ghezzal, who took a touch and slotted it home.

Understandably, people have been quick to jump to the nearest and easiest comparison, which essentially is: Karius = Alisson.
