When arguably the best boxer on the planet compliments your fighting, you know you must be doing something right.
33-0 boxing superstar Gennady Golovkin recently opened up about his respect for UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey to MMA Junkie.
GGG explained that he had seen the MMA star in training and he was blown away by her ability. He even went as far to call her the best female athlete in the world.
“I know her; we’ve been training maybe two, three times together in boxing gym. She is nice lady. She’s great athlete. She’s the best female athlete in the world. She’s a beautiful lady and beautiful person. I like her. She’s tough.”
Despite Rousey’s dominance in the sport, her critics often cite her striking ability as a weakness of hers. Even during her demolition of Bethe Correira, people were critical of her footwork and wild punching style.
However, Golovkin was complimentary of her skills in this department and reckons her technique is solid.
“She’s good. Beautiful performance. She has great technical (skills).”
GGG is in action this weekend in a huge middleweight clash with David Lemieux.
