Pace is everything in the modern game.
It’s the one thing that former England and Manchester United captain admits scared the sh*t out of him in an opposing player.
So obviously the JOE team was dying to find out who the fastest player was currently tearing up turf in the Premier League.
We were not expecting the answer from EA Sports Player Performance Index to be this man.
The stats are in and the quickest man in the league is Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy who was clocked hitting a top speed of 35.44 km/h.
His Foxes team mate Jeffrey Schlupp came a very close second – and in fact 50% of the league’s fastest stars played for Leicester including Marc Albrighton, Ritchie De Laet and Wes Morgan.
Whatever the f**k is in the water around the East Midlands, it’s clearly working – as Claudio Ranieri’s men sit a surprising fifth in the table with 15 points.
Surprisingly, no players from the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester City made it into this select group of speedsters. Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez are nowhere to be seen.
Actually 50% of the those in the top 10 are defenders. Here is the full list:
