He must have touched his brain
Liverpool have released a statement to say that Roberto Firmino will be assessed by the club’s medical team after sustaining an eye injury in the second half of Saturday’s victory over Tottenham.
Firmino, who scored the Reds’ winning goal at Wembley, was forced off in the 74th minute after being caught by Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen.
The Brazilian looked to be in considerable pain, with a freeze frame image later emerging on social media to show the true extent of the incident.
Jurgen Klopp voiced his concern after the victory, which sent Liverpool back to the top of the Premier League table.
“I’m not sure, but there may be an injury with Roberto, we don’t know exactly in the moment,” Klopp told Liverpool’s official website.
“It’s something with his eye, we will see. I didn’t see it back. I only saw the situation from around 60 yards. I have no clue what exactly happened.
“But it’s something with the eye and for sure in the moment it’s not comfortable for him. We will see.”
Liverpool supporters will hope that Firmino makes a swift recovery ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash at home to Paris Saint-Germain.
