Wilfried Zaha made his return to action this afternoon
The Crystal Palace forward scored the only goal of the game to give Crystal Palace their first league win since the opening day of the season against Huddersfield.
He missed the Eagles’ last league game against Southampton through injury, and was not called up to the Ivory Coast squad while he recovered.
Zaha marked his return to the team with a brilliant solo goal, reminding people of this importance to Palace’s hopes of survival.
But he wasn’t smiling in his post-match interview, when he was asked about some of the “tasty tackles” he received throughout the game from Huddersfield players.
He rolled his eyes, before laying into referees for the lack of protection they give him on the field.
“I don’t know what to say anymore”, said Zaha. “I feel like before anyone gets a red card I’ll have to get my leg broken,” he added.
“This is why I lose my head,” he explained. “Some of the yellow cards, like against Watford – the guy [Étienne Capoue], stood on the back of my calf, and still a yellow card. It’s like, why am I getting different treatment to other players? I just don’t understand it’s every week, every referee.”

Strong words from Zaha, who later received the backing from pundit Robbie Savage, who sympathised with Zaha on Radio 5Live.
“He’s getting kicked every single week! He gets absolutely hammered week in, week out,” Savage said.
