Sean Dyche claims Manchester City should have been reduced to nine men

Kompany and Sane should have seen red, according to the Burnley boss

Joe Hart did not have the most enjoyable return to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Hart conceded five goals to a rampaging Manchester City side, who maintained their unbeaten start to the Premier League season.

Five different players found the net against Burnley; with Sergio Aguero, Bernardo Silva, Fernandinho, Riyad Mahrez and Leroy Sane all getting in on the act.

But Burnley manager Sean Dyche is of the opinion that the hosts received some favourable decisions which did no favours to the Clarets.

Dyche is adamant that City defender Vincent Kompany should have been sent off for his tackle on Aaron Lennon in the first minute which left the winger with a nasty cut and he reckons Sane was lucky to be on the pitch long enough to get on the scoresheet.

“It’s a red I think,” Dyche said of Kompany’s early challenge. “I think because it’s early in the game, it’s one of those weird things about officials where they don’t do anything but it’s a red.

“He’s blindsided, it’s very high and Aaron’s got a two-inch gash that he’s had a couple of stitches in. He did well to finish the first half and play in the second half.

“It’s just a bizarre twist of the game at the moment. That’s a yellow yet you have people diving all over the place and they get nothing. I find that bizarre because that’s a red for me.

“And later on in the game, Sane’s is a red as well for a blatant kick-out at a player with no intention to play the ball. They’re red cards nowadays. I must say ‘nowadays’. It’s important to remember that.”
