Most players tend to ignore criticism from supporters, but Alisson Becker is not like most players
Considering who his predecessor was, Alisson has not faced many negative comments since his move to Liverpool in the summer.
The Brazilian goalkeeper is almost universally seen as a significant upgrade from Loris Karius and while there’s a mistake in every goalkeeper, Alisson has been largely dependable between the sticks for the Reds since his switch from Roma.
Only Manchester City have conceded fewer goals in the Premier League than Liverpool this season and while plenty of credit must be given to Jurgen Klopp’s back four, Alisson has pulled off some incredible saves this term.
And it’s clear that the 26-year-old doesn’t take kindly to criticism.
In the wee hours of Sunday morning, Alisson engaged in a Twitter spat with a supporter who seemingly blamed the ‘keeper for the goal conceded by Liverpool in their 4-1 victory over Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon.
Callum Paterson’s goal proved to be no more than consolation for the visitors but one fan saw it as evidence for his opinion that Alisson has not yet proven his worth for the Reds.
“Get better now or get out!” the fan tweeted in Portuguese.
Alisson responded by branding his critic an “idiot” but that wasn’t the end of the conversation.
The supporter insisted that Alisson now has to prove himself on the pitch but the stopper wasn’t having it, accusing the fan of being alone in his opinion.
