His career has been plagued by injury
Danny Welbeck was forced off on a stretcher during Arsenal’s Europa League clash with Sporting Clube de Portugal on Thursday night.
The Arsenal forward’s career has been plagued by injuries, and this could be the worst of the lot.
Just as he was picking up some form under new Arsenal boss Unai Emery, the forward suffered what looked to be a devastating ankle injury, although the full extent of it is yet to be confirmed.
Welbeck’s teammates’ reactions spoke volumes as he was attended to by physios on the pitch at the Emirates.
Welbeck suffered the injury in the first half of the group stage fixture, with the score locked at 0-0.
Not what Gunners fans want to see…

He was given the task of leading the front line, with Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan playing supporting roles behind him, as Emery rested in-form strikers Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Welbeck was taken to hospital during the second half of the game for an x-ray.
