It’s not quite worked out for Big Rom at Man United

Romelu Lukaku is reportedly weighing up a move away from Manchester United, according to reports.

The striker signed for United from Everton in the summer of 2017 but has struggled to find the net recently, which has seen him dropped to the bench by manager José Mourinho.

If he is continually left out of the starting XI, Lukaku will consider leaving the club in search of regular starts.

The 25-year-old has scored just one goal in his last 14 games for United in all competitions, as United trail behind their rivals in 8th with a negative goal difference.

Mourinho opted to start a front two of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford against Arsenal during the week, having also left Lukaku out of his starting line-up in games against Manchester City and Everton.

Lukaku is the only player to bear the brunt of Mourinho’s frustrations, with Paul Pogba also dropping to the bench for the Arsenal match.

Pogba and Mourinho reportedly engaged in a frank discussion after United’s 2-2 draw against Southampton, with the coach criticising Pogba’s sloppy passing. Pogba reportedly complained that Mourinho’s tactics don’t give him enough options when he has the ball. Pogba was then dropped.

Both Lukaku and Pogba joined United for huge transfer fees in the region of £80-90m – Pogba’s a world record at the time – but neither have truly lived up to expectations for a variety of reasons.

Don’t be surprised to see one or both of them leave United in the summer of 2019 if their run of underwhelming performances continues.
