It is the second time in a year the player has landed himself in controversy

Dundee United left-back Jamie Robson is under investigation after an image emerged on Instagram of the defender dressed in ‘blackface’ at a party.

The 20-year-old was pictured covered in black body paint. He also wore an umbrella hat and a hi-vis jacket, whilst holding two cardboard signs with bracelets and sunglasses on which read “Buy 1 Get 5 free!” and “Cheap as Chips”.

United manager Robbie Neilson has confirmed that the Scottish Championship club are now investigating the matter.

“I spoke to him briefly. The standards at this football club have to kept at the highest level.

“We will chat again later with him and the club will deal with it in-house,” he said in a statement.

“We are a big football club and we get a lot of exposure. The players, staff and everyone associated with it needs to realise that.

“When you are out and about and doing different things you are representing the club and the fans.

“So we will deal with it over the next few days,” he added.

Robson has since deactivated his Instagram account.

The incident comes nearly a year after footage was shared online of Robson dancing and drinking a green drink from a pint glass, while driving.

The Snapchat story clip showed him sipping an unknown green liquid before taking his hands off the wheel and singing into the camera.
