Can a cake be iconic?
Yes, we say it can. And this cake is definitely one that will live in our hearts.
The season five episode of The Simpsons ‘Lady Bouvier’s Lover’ opens with Maggie’s first birthday. Marge bakes a cake for her – but also in order to prevent the inevitable, she also makes a separate cake for Homer to ruin.
It’s a great moment, and something we wish people would do for us when they bake.
Animation writer Alan Denton posted on Twitter that his wife perfectly recreated this great cake for his birthday.
There's a moment in a season 5 episode of The Simpsons where Homer starts picking letters off Maggie's birthday cake until Marge shoo's him away, saying, "I made a special cake for you to ruin. It's over there!"
For my birthday this year, my wife made me that cake.
I love it. pic.twitter.com/5p5YYpjOoK

And she has gone the whole hog. She’s not just made a cake with a load of random icing letters on it. She has actually matched every visible letter up perfectly.
That is amazing attention to detail.
Simpsons writer Bill Oakley tweeted his approval.

And other people shared other Simpsons cakes they’d made.
My sister did that for me one year as well, but it was the cake Mr. Burns made for Homer. pic.twitter.com/zqrlrkhkkG

Other foodstuffs from The Simpsons we want to be recreated now:
- Homer’s patented, out of this world, space-age moon waffles.
- A Squishee that is all Squishee.
- The Ribwich.
- Flanders Five Alarm Chili
