The Leeds United defender is the first person from the club to speak out
Pontus Jansson has mocked a journalist who reported that Marcelo Bielsa could be resigning as Leeds United manager on Wednesday afternoon.
The news was initially reported on Twitter by Onefootball , who claimed that a source at the club had informed them that Bielsa would make public his decision at a 5pm press conference.
Speculation about the Argentine coach’s departure has been met with a mix of anger, sadness, desperation and denial by Leeds United supporters who – understandably – do not want to see their league-leading manager depart.
The club are yet to comment on the rumours, but Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has in a tweet sent on Wednesday.
Replying to journalist Ian McCourt – who broke the story – Jansson suggested that the story was nothing more than nonsense.
“Haha already 1 of April on your office?” he said, adding a string of laughing emojis.

It remains to be seen whether Bielsa’s press conference will relate to his future at the club, or whether it will merely be used as a means for the manager to address the recent ‘spygate’ controversy.
The saga has seen the Football Association and English Football League begin investigations into the club Bielsa’s admission that he sent a member of staff to spy on Derby County’s training ground.
