Did this Charlton ‘keeper score the longest goal in football history?

We could be waiting three months to find out...

Dimitar Mitov could have set a new Guinness world record.

The 18-year-old goalkeeper hopes that this goal for the Addicks’ under-18s against Coventry will break Asmir Begovic’s record for the longest goal ever scored.

Mitov receives a back pass and launches a massive punt over the opposition ‘keeper and into the net.

Begovic currently holds the world record for his 91.9m strike for Stoke City against Southampton in September 2013.

With Coventry’s training ground the exact same size as the Britannia Stadium, Charlton are confident that Mitov is the new record holder.
