The joke that Fergie is still running the show got some more traction on Wednesday night
Manchester United celebrated a famous win over Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night with even Sir Alex Ferguson coming down to the dressing room at Parc des Princes.
A number of United heroes, including Eric Cantona, were present at the game as they overturned a two-goal first leg deficit to knock PSG out on away goals. With the final whistle celebrations heading into the dressing room, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed that Ferguson’s trip down was his first under the new manager.
“Tonight we have to remember it’s a fantastic night,” Solskjaer told BeIN Sports. “It’s just the spirit of Manchester United.
“Great to see the boss in there after the game for the first time so the lads were absolutely magnificent.”
The current United manager admitted that he didn’t hold much of a conversation with his old boss, who was in charge for the entirety of the Norwegian’s Old Trafford playing career during which time they collected six Premier League titles and a Champions League.
“You don’t make chats now, it’s too noisy but it’s great to see the boss in there,” he added. “Got some fantastic memories.
“Football, that’s what it gives you. It’s special when you’re a coach or a manager doing it with your staff and players. The dressing room in there was absolutely unbelievable, just to see the club together, with the owners, ex-managers, ex-players, [a] great atmosphere.
“Of course [Ferguson] is happy, and proud as well, this is how we do things at United.”
Club director and ambassador Ferguson will have another away day to look forward to when the Red Devils are handed their quarter-final opponents, with the draw for the next round taking place on Friday, 15 March.
