Just the boost the team needs going into Sunday’s game against a buoyant Manchester United
Arsenal Arsenal Arsenal. Arsenal Arsenal Arsenal Arsenal Arsenal. What are we going to do with you? You just never make it easy on yourselves. It’s just never easy, is it?
The wheels appeared to come off the Gunners’ mighty Europa League campaign last night as Rennes took a 3-1 lead in the first leg of their round of 16 tie. I wouldn’t exactly call it a mountain of a deficit but it’s definitely some kind of mound. A tricky knoll to overcome.
In fairness to Unai Emery’s side, they appeared completely in control of the game after an early Alex Iwobi cross (it was definitely a cross) missed everyone and flew into the far corner. Things were looking rosy until Sokratis ‘Syllables’ Papastathopoulos was given an extremely harsh second yellow just before half-time after appearing to pull down Ismaila Sarr when through on goal. Replays showed the Greek defender’s innocence but without VAR in the Europa League, our new mighty overlord, the decision could not be overturned.
From then on a Bourigeaud thunderbastard, Nacho Monreal own goal and a – fair play – splendid counterattacking move finished off by that man Sarr compounded Arsenal’s misfortune.
Still, that didn’t stop a select few of Arsenal’s supporting elite stopping by the airport to greet the team with the just the pick-me-up stuff they need to rise up, dust themselves off and go again on Sunday with the PSG-vanquishing Manchester United in town.
The insults included:
- “Booooooo”
- “Rubbish”
- “Fucking rubbish”
- “Rubbish” again
- “You’re a disgrace!”
- “Come and face us, come on”
- “Rubbish” some more
- “Don’t pretend you’re injured Ozil”
- And finally, “be injured, you c**t, forever”
Fantastic work lads. You can be proud of yourselves.

Again, I have to stress that, by the sounds of it, this is literally just three blokes stood in the airport getting angry for no reason. This doesn’t represent the vast majority of Arsenal supporters.
But even so. Arsenal Arsenal Arsenal. Oh Arsenal.
