We can all get a bit obsessed sometimes
Sometimes it can be neighbour who we’re certain is throwing their rubbish in our wheelie bin, sometimes it’s the colleague that we think is stealing our good ideas and putting them across as their own, and sometimes it’s the government we are 100 percent certain is channeling into our brain waves and reading our minds.
Sometimes though, it’s just the goal that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored to put Arsenal 2-0 up in their Europa League second leg tie against Rennes on Thursday night.
If you haven’t seen the goal it goes a little something like this: the ball is played through to Aubameyang by Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka. Maybe Xhaka thought Aubameyang was onside, we don’t know. Frankly, we don’t want to know.
But the fact is, Aubameyang was offside. Neither the referee nor linesman didn’t see it though and as such the Gambian forward was able to cross the ball over to the far post, where Ainsley Maitland-Niles was there to nod it in.
Arsenal have wiped out the deficit inside 1️⃣5️⃣ minutes.

Nod it in he did, putting Arsenal 2-0 up on the night and in front on away goals in the tie overall. If this were the Champions League, the decision would have gone to VAR and it would have been ruled out. But this is definitely not the Champions League and as such it stood.
It’s happened to all of our teams and it is extremely annoying. But the thing is, most of us just get annoyed, maybe moan about it for a while, and then move on.
But the advent of new technology means that this doesn’t have to be the case anymore, as shown by the Rennes fan who made the video below.
The fan, whose name we thankfully do not know, decided to go and try some sort of CSI style shit to prove beyond all doubt that this goal was offside, including birdseye views and lines on the pitch.
If only one of their friends or family had been there to tell them that yeah, it was offside, we all know. We all knew from the moment it happened. You’ve wasted your time mate.
A Rennes fan has gone to great lengths to demonstrate that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was offside & Arsenal’s 2nd goal should not have stood. https://t.co/O2BafoxEzV
