To be fair, it’s probably just pocket change for the fella

Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has been fined £153,000 after arriving late for training last month. PSG’s want-away midfielder Adrien Rabiot has also been fined for turning up late.

That amount comes to just over half a week’s wages. Yep.

The incident is believed to have happened prior on October 28 prior to PSG’s Ligue 1 match against Marseille, and the funds will be sent directly to the PSG foundation.

According to AS, Mbappe signed a document acknowledging his behaviour after the incident, and also report that big clubs – including Real Madrid – are monitoring the situation.

The issue of discipline among players is one which has been at the forefront of PSG’s efforts in recent months. The club was forced to create a code of ethics which would allow the club to punish players if they fail to fulfil certain obligations.

Unlike in other countries, clubs in France are not allowed to fine their players, a situation which led the club to create the code.

It has been reported that the clause, which is in all players’ contracts, has a 15-20 point system on behaviour, which includes sponsors, opponents, officials and other situations such as arriving for training on time and representing the club’s image in a respectful manner.

All fines are then donated to the PSG Foundation.
