Ryan Giggs has responded to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s recent criticism of the Class of ’92 by jokingly suggesting that the Swedish forward knows more about Manchester United than them
Ibrahimovic did not take kindly to the fact that the likes of Gary Neville and Paul Scholes were so critical of United in recent seasons and claimed that they should look for a role within the club if they wanted to make their opinions known.
Ibrahimovic, who played for the Red Devils for two seasons, made the comments during an interview with the Mirror and no sooner had the words been printed than Giggs was asked for a response at a press conference ahead of Wales’ friendly against Trinidad and Tobago.
The Welsh manager reacted by suggesting that he, Neville, Scholes and other club legends are entitled to their opinions because not only are they former players, but they are United fans too.
“Only Nicky [Butt] is connected with the club now, but when you play over 2000 games between us, we are going to have an opinion,” Giggs said, via ESPN.
“Sometimes it’s positive, sometimes negative, but it doesn’t have an effect on results. We are supporters. That’s what football is about, having different opinions. But he [Ibrahimovic] obviously knows more about the club than us.”
