Liverpool highlight Juventus striker as top transfer target for the summer

Marc Mayo

Expect the Reds to be linked with every forward under the sun in the coming months

Liverpool have been a different beast this season with their defence standing tall during some surprisingly limp attacking displays, and reports in Italy reckon Paulo Dybala is the man to revitalise Jurgen Klopp’s forward line.

While Sadio Mane is on rapid form, notching 17 Premier League goals this campaign, Mohamed Salah has continued to suffer from inconsistency while Roberto Firmino is not the sort of striker who hits the back of the net 20 times a season.

With just Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge backing up the trio at the moment, we can expect a veritable deluge of strikers to be linked with the club this summer.

Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web have kicked us off by claiming Liverpool are pressing hard to sign Dybala from Juventus. The Argentine has suffered from injuries and being in Cristiano Ronaldo’s shadow this season, only netting four times in Serie A.

He angered Massimiliano Allegri last month when leaving the bench before the final whistle of Juve’s 3-3 draw at Parma, the coach describing Dybala as a “clever boy” once he quickly apologised.

The idea of Liverpool making a move for the striker is consistent with their apparent need for more firepower, but right now you could honestly take any decent attacker in world football and make a plausible case for them.

Wissam Ben Yedder seems alright, Luka Jovic is highly sought after, Edinson Cavani still exists. See, it’s easy.
