The star-studded contest will take place on June 23rd at the Santiago Bernabeu
After it was recently announced that Spurs will play Inter Milan legends in the summer, Real Madrid and Chelsea have now followed suit with an old-school clash of their own.
Madrid have hosted the ‘Corazon Classic Match’ for the past 10 years, winning all but one of the annual fixtures as the Galacticos of old take on former icons of other European superpowers including the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Juventus.
Among the names confirmed to be playing when Chelsea line up against Madrid this summer are Ricardo Carvalho and Michael Essien (who is amazingly still playing in Azerbaijan), with both players having represented Real and the Blues during their career.
Marcel Desailly and Eidur Gudjohnsen will join them in Chelsea’s XI, while Steve McManaman, Roberto Carlos and Alvaro Arbeloa are all confirmed names of the team sheet for Los Blancos.
There are also rumours of current Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane featuring.
Both clubs will be hoping to keep their potential off-field animosity out of the game with intense speculation surrounding the future of Chelsea star Eden Hazard – whether he’ll end up as Madrid’s main man next season remains to be seen.
All earnings from the charity event will go to the Real Madrid Foundation.
