The striker is expected to cost over £40 million in a potential bidding war
Manchester United are the latest club linked with a move for Eintracht Frankfurt star Luka Jovic, following in the footsteps of Barcelona and Manchester City.
Frankfurt signed the Serbian forward on an initial loan deal from Benfica and he has gone on to net 23 times in all competitions this season, the German club in the mix for the Europa League quarter-finals after knocking out Inter Milan.
His exploits have led to United making an official enquiry, according to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, after similar interest from Barcelona, City, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. Anticipation is building for a bidding war, and if there’s anything that always meets expectations – it’s a bidding war.
Initial bids are expected to be around the £40 million mark, reports suggesting Barcelona recently launched an offer worth £43 million and the Catalans are said to be very determined to seal the 21-year-old’s services.
On Wednesday, he added to his repertoire with a goal against Germany, his first for Serbia and another example of why scouts across the continent are flocking to see him play.
Whether Jovic turns out to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s main priority, on the other hand, depends on United’s push for Antoine Griezmann. The Atletico Madrid star is said to be available for just £100 million this summer and that isn’t actually that much a floppy-haired Frenchman these days.
