Alfredo Morelos has been handed a four match ban for his elbow on Celtic captain Scott Brown during Sunday’s Old Firm derby.

It was the Rangers striker’s fifth red card of the season, and possibly the most predictable event of the entire game.

The Colombian was given his marching orders after landing an elbow on Brown in an off-the-ball incident in the first half, leaving Rangers a man down for the rest of the game.

He would only have served a two match ban had it not been for his four previous dismissals this season, which have doubled this suspension. Somehow, it feels unlikely that he will learn his lesson.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard confirmed after the game that he will deal with the matter internally and that Morelos “will be punished.”

He was also critical of Scott Brown for provoking Morelos. The shithouse extraordinaire was involved in two incidents, as he was punched in the face by goalscorer Ryan Kent, who is also likely to face a lengthy ban for his act of violence.
