Spurs showed tremendous cojones last night
Wednesday night will go down in history as one of the all time great Champions League fixtures. Spurs overcame the odds to beat Manchester City on away goals despite losing the second leg 4-3 in a match that was packed with drama from the first minute to the last, partly thanks to the influence of VAR, which ruled out Raheem Sterling’s injury time goal that would have sent City through.
Tottenham’s celebrations were predictably mad, as Mauricio Pochettino embraced his coaching staff with a facial expression that can only be described as aggressive joy on the final whistle.
In the dressing room, as the celebrations continued, Pochettino channelled his inner Diego Simeone, a compatriot who shares more than a few traits with the Spurs manager.
Dressed in classic Simeone attire – an entirely black suit – Pochettino entered the dressing room and gestured towards his private region, making the same gesture that got Simeone and Cristiano Ronaldo into trouble recentlyThe gesture alluded to the balls, or ‘cojones’ as Pochettino would say, that Spurs showed across the two legs to beat the Premier League champions.

The players then descended into chants of “Ooooooh, Moussa Sissoko”, praising the midfielder who has grown into one of Spurs’ most important players this season, but came off with a knock during the second half for eventual match winner Fernando Llorente.
Sissoko, as it goes, thought Spurs had lost until a staff member rushed into the dressing room to inform him that Sterling’s goal had been disallowed.
