Louis van Gaal has a number of problems to solve.
Perhaps the most obvious one is the incredible goal drought that Manchester United are currently suffering.
United haven’t scored a goal in 325 minutes of action with Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace the third goalless game on the bounce for Louis van Gaal’s side.
Their last goal came via Anthony Martial against CSKA Moscow, but the young Frenchman has started his last four games as a left winger.
And Van Gaal has admitted that he has yet to figure out whether to play Martial, who signed for United on 1 September, out wide or through the middle.
“We don’t know yet because he played always in Monaco as the left winger,” Van Gaal said.
“And as a manager I have to see what is the best balance in the team, and that’s not so simple. So I have to decide every week also, dependable of the game plan and the opponent, and so on.
“We have played with him in the striker’s position, that was not the first time for him, but in Monaco he played always on the left wing.”
