It’s set to be a busy summer for United

Manchester United are reportedly leading the race to sign Swansea winger Daniel James. The Wales international has enjoyed a successful season in the Championship and piqued the interest of several other Premier League clubs, including Liverpool.

James also signed for Leeds United in January only for the transfer to collapse after Swansea pulled out of the deal at the very last minute.

James’ stand-out moment this season came against Brentford in the FA Cup, when he ran almost the length of the pitch, leaving multiple defenders in his wake, to score a sublime solo goal as the Swans progressed to the quarter-finals, beating the Bees 4-1.

Not hard to see why United might want to sign him, is it? They’re in desperate need of some fresh talent in the squad, and James could be the answer to their issues on the right wing.

United have also been linked with England and Borussa Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, who would cost significantly more than James, who would be expected to cost around £10m.

With other areas of the squad higher up United’s list of priorities, saving £70 million by opting to sign James might be wise. There is no guarantee though, with other clubs circling round the young talent, he will have pick of the bunch. Although the Mail are reporting that United’s rivals in the chase to sign James are now resigned to him joining Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
