Not sure how this happened, but it did
When Ajax went into the break 2-0 up, 3-0 up on aggregate against Tottenham Hotspur. It seemed like game over. Regardless of what happened at Anfield on Tuesday night, this Spurs side surely wouldn’t have enough in the tank to match this Ajax juggernaut.
But after the half-time whistle, with the introduction of Fernando Llorente, Spurs were a different beast. Before the hour mark, they had already equalised on the night, needing just one more goal to go through on away goals.
Both goals came from Lucas Moura, who used his delicate footwork and physical prowess to find a way of scoring despite Ajax defenders snapping at his heels on both occasions. The first came from a burst of pace through the middle, as the Brazilian latched onto a Dele Alli turn-cum-pass, avoiding oncoming tackles and slotting past Andre Onana. Game on.
But the second… Well the second came from a combination of defensive mistakes from both Onana and Lasse Schöne. As the midfielder went to clear the ball, his goalkeeper came to collect it. Not wanting to boot his teammate in the face, Schöne hesitated. Likewise, Onana wasn’t keen on getting his hands or face in the way of a clearance, also hesitated.
Lucas Moura pounced, pick-pocketing the confused Ajax defence before a series of delicate touches, a sharp turn and a powerful, nutmeg finish saw Spurs draw level.

Then, in the dying moments, moments after Fernando Llorente had headed over, and Jan Vertonghen had hit the bar, it seemed like it was all over. But Lucas popped up and added another. Red and white bodies dropped to the ground in disbelief. Tears started flowing. Tottenham are in a fucking Champions League final.
Lucas Moura scored a hat-trick to send Tottenham to their first ever Champions League final.

Spurs will now meet Liverpool in the first all-English Champions League final since 2008.
