‘Be the stripes’
Juventus have dropped their new home kit for next season, and it might not go down well with some football purists who hold tradition as sacred.
The Old Lady are a team who wear stripes. The Bianconeri. Black and white stripes. It’s simple. That’s what they wear. But as a wise man once said, there’s only so much you can do with stripes. Occasionally, their kit manufacturers, adidas, will have to stray from tradition as they seek to innovate new, eye-catching designs.
The Serie A champions’ new number features a Blackburn-esque half and half pattern, with the right side of the torso white and the left side black with the sleeves the opposite.
There is also a thin, pink stripe down the middle, for some reason.
Juve and adidas have acknowledged the decision to ditch the traditional stripes, coining the slogan ‘be the stripes’ in its promotional video. Whatever that means. Sounds kind of cool, I guess.
Anyway, this is what Cristiano Ronaldo will be wearing when he scores tap-ins against Genoa next season.

At least the goalkeeper kit is lovely, with a feint pattern of mountains on a dark base.
