Not every day you drive home the best coach in the world
Manchester City celebrated their treble win in style on Monday night with the traditional parade before an a party. Booze was drunk. Songs were sang. Everyone had a jolly good time after a historic season.
Pep Guardiola rarely lets what he has left of his hair down, but this was an exception. The City boss, sporting a questionable checkered flat cap, was in the thick of the celebrations all night.
After an evening of partying, Guardiola responsibly got a lift home, but not from one of his teetotal players. No, from a BBC engineer. Mark Hilton, who is a City fan, tweeted last night: “Top day at the parade. Not every day pep asks ya for a lift home.”

Speaking on the radio, Hilton said he would have carried the manager home.
“So I’m just about to leave at the back of the media compound and Pep and all the players were at back of the cathedral, so I’d finished on the stage and they were having a few drinks,” Hilton said.
“So I was just about to pull off and leave and this security guard comes over, like all Men in Black with a City suit on and an earpiece and that. He said ‘are you going’, so I said ‘yeah’ and he goes ‘you couldn’t give Pep a lift home could you? So I said what? He said ‘could you give Pep a lift home? I can’t get hime out.’
“So I said ‘give him a lift home? I’ll carry him home! Get in.”

Guardiola had spend the parade lapping up chants about him, conducting the crowd, and fair play: he’s just become the first manager to win a domestic treble in English men’s football history. Go wild.
