Dream job klaxon for anyone looking…
Did you grow up watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and wish to hang out with them? You know, aside from the constant threat of Krang, Shredder, Bebop and Rocksteady, of course.
After all, who wouldn’t want to spend some time hanging out with turtles?
They’re chilled, laid back, and they’re usually found at the beach. Even if one happens to escape your sight, there’s a fair chance that you’ll catch up with them because after all, they’re turtles!
Anyway, there’s a dream summer in-turtle-ship on offer from Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu, a luxury hotel in the Maldives that is also home to the resort’s own turtle rescue centre.
The internship will run for two weeks in August and the posting states that the successful applicant will “gain valuable veterinary experience from one of the UK’s leading specialist turtle veterinary surgeons, Dr Claire Petros, the lead veterinarian at the Olive Ridley Project”.
“Our Marine Turtle Rescue Centre is the first and only rescue centre in the Maldives to be led by a veterinarian and is fully-equipped with surgical and diagnostic facilities for the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of marine turtles.”
In terms of responsibilities, the new recruit will have to do all of the following: feed the turtles, interact with guests who visit the centre, attend rescue missions to collect turtles in need and assist with the release of rehabilitated turtles back into the ocean.
Sadly, this internship is unpaid, but it’s bound to be some experience for the successful applicant and the intern will be accommodated in a Beach Villa, with full board meals and soft drinks.
There’s also a guided group snorkelling trip, sunset cruise, Balinese treatment, and a beach BBQ on offer.
Described as an “internship like no other”, the posting also states that there are also some impressive opportunities and scenery to enjoy.
It reads: “The chosen winner will stay in a truly tropical paradise in a beautiful guest villa and have full board benefits at Cowrie restaurant. You will also be gifted some of the fantastic experiences, such as a Sunset Cruise and a guided group snorkelling trip in the stunning Baa Atoll.”
To apply, applicants must submit a two to three-minute video and a 500-word cover letter explaining why they think they would be a good fit for the role.
