Brilliant.
Not for the first time this season, Manchester United fans were full of praise for Chris Smalling because the 1-0 win against CSKA Moscow could have been a whole lot different had it not been for the central-defender.
Almost a minute before Wayne Rooney broke the deadlock – and ended United’s goal drought – Smalling made a vital goal-line clearance from Seydou Doumbia.
The England international has arguably been United’s most consistent performer this season and he has seriously upped his game following some less than assured performances in United’s rearguard since arriving from Fulham almost four years ago.
Chris (emphasis on the fact that he’s called Chris here) Smalling is probably now in the position where he’s one of the first names on Louis Van Gaal’s team sheet, but the United manager might want to double check that. Yes Louis, we said Chris. Not Mike.
A hilarious case of mistaken identity has happened at Old Trafford…again.
