Things don’t look good for Jesse
We are less than one month away from El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie dropping on Netflix. And finally, following an ‘announcement video’ in August, we have a trailer.
Admittedly, it’s a trailer that doesn’t show very much. Just Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) sitting in a car, in the dark. We basically can only see his eyes, while a very ominous news bulletin blares out of the radio, reporting on the violent events of the Breaking Bad series finale.
So yeah, we still don’t know much about the actual plot of the film, apart from it seems to focus on Jesse on the run. But hot take: that’s a good thing. This is the Breaking Bad movie. You are already going to watch it. So why bother spoiling the movie’s best scenes? Netflix doesn’t need to do anything else to sell us on it. Hell, the success fo Better Call Saul has even quashed any concerns about Breaking Bad spin-offs not working.
Obviously, with *SPOILER* Walt no longer around, it seems like this is going to be a Jesse solo joint (though rumours have circulated of Bryan Cranston filming a flashback cameo). Which at least means it will be nice to see Aaron Paul get a decent starring role again – as shockingly, Need For Speed didn’t turn him into a big-screen star.
The level of secrecy around the production has been immense – El Camino was filmed basically without anyone knowing last year, and only confirmed in August.
El Camino hits Netflix on October 11. There will also be limited theatrical screenings in the US, but no word on if we’ll get that in the UK yet.
