How different things could have been
Jordan Henderson has helped guide Liverpool to the Champions League title and their first league triumph in three decades, under the management of Jurgen Klopp.
He is a driving force for the German manager’s side and one of the most influential players in a team that it could be argued is one of the best to ever win the Premier League.
But had it not been for his determination to reject a move and fight for his place at the club, things could have been so different. That’s because in 2012, Brendan Rodgers deemed the midfielder surplus to requirements, and was willing to allow to him to move to Fulham in exchange for Clint Dempsey.
Henderson was at a crossroads, and could easily have decided to leave when he realised he wasn’t wanted at Anfield, but instead he decided to stay and fight.
Jordan Henderson’s zero to hero story is more inspiring than most Premier League winners.
