Jose’s getting his first new signing of the window
Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg will undergo a medical today ahead of his move from St. Mary’s to Tottenham Hotspur, it’s been reported.
The Danish midfielder is expected to join Jose Mourinho’s side for a fee believed to be £15 million, with Spurs’ right-back Kyle Walker-Peters going in the opposite direction for £12 million.
Spurs have been linked with the former Bayern Munich midfielder for a number of months, with speculation increasing after he let the hierarchy at Southampton aware of his determination to leave the club.
He has been a solid performer for Ralph Hasenhüttl during his tenure at the club, and played an instrumental role in their turnaround last season following a humiliating 9-0 home defeat to Leicester City in October 2019.

The midfielder’s arrival comes at a time of speculation surrounding another Tottenham player, Tanguy Ndombele. Despite only arriving in London from Lyon last summer for a club record fee of £54 million, the Frenchman has seen his opportunities limited under Jose Mourinho.
Some see the arrival of Højbjerg as an opportunity for Mourinho to unlock the attacking potential of Ndombele in a side which often played unattractive football last season. This, combined with the fact that Spurs would be unlikely to get the money back which they paid for the midfielder, could see Daniel Levy decide to keep him at the club.
