Sadio Mane has been the PFA Fans’ Player of the Year after a stunning season in which he helped lead Liverpool to their first league title in three decades.

The 28-year-old scored 18 Premier League goals for the Reds as they finished the season 18 points clear of second placed Manchester City.

He saw off competition from the other nominees, who included teammates Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, Manchester City stars Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling, and Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy.

Mane however was the clear choice of supporters across the country, sealing almost half of the entire vote with a 41 percent share.

De Bruyne, who over the weekend was named the Premier League Player of the Season, came second with 27 percent, while Trent Alexander-Arnold, who finished second behind De Bruyne in this season’s Premier League assists charts, claimed 17 percent of the vote.

Van Dijk, Vardy and Sterling finished fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

Mane’s incredible goalscoring form this season in the league took his tally over the past two seasons to a frankly ridiculous 40 goals in his past 71 Premier League games.

He becomes the second member of the current Liverpool squad to win the PFA Fan’s Player of the Year award in the past three years, after Mohamed Salah’s win in 2018.
