Juventus have moved past the need for Gonzalo Higuaín
Juventus have decided to terminate the contracts of Gonzalo Higuaín and Sami Khedira, reports Fabrizio Romano. New manager Andrea Pirlo has not included the duo in his plans moving forward.
The Serie A champions are looking to significantly reduce their wage bill, and are willing to let several first team players leave, including Manchester United target Douglas Costa.
But the club have been more ruthless with Higuaín and Khedira, two of their older players who would be more difficult to sell, opting to cut all ties this summer.
The club are still negotiating a pay-off with the players, who both have one year remaining on their current contracts. Once that negotiation is complete, they will be free to find new clubs, who will presumably pay them much less money.
Khedira only made 12 league appearances under Sarri in the 2019/20 season, while Higuain played 32 times in Serie A, scoring eight goals.
