Big zebra vibes
David Beckham has seemingly confirmed Manchester United’s third kit with a post on Instagram.
Images were leaked last week which appeared to show a third United strip complete with black and white stripes. If you can call them stripes. ‘Random black lines’ would be a more accurate description.

Beckham says he likes it. He posted a picture of it complete with the caption ‘Love the new United shirt’. But then he is probably the only guy who can pull it off, to be fair.
It’s unclear what Man Utd’s thinking was with this design. They’re not stripes or hoops. Many fans on social media have linked it to a Juventus jersey or even Newcastle.
Both assumptions are wrong.
Manchester United’s third kit is quite clearly influenced by the Swansea City 1992-93 home jersey.

Speaking about the new Man Utd third kit, JOE’s Reuben Pinder recently wrote:
“Firstly, it’s black and white. Not white with black trim or vice versa, properly black and white. Except, they’re not stripes, nor are they hoops. It’s a complete mish-mash of straight and diagonal lines more akin to a Juventus training top than a United shirt.
“At least the club crest is red, I suppose.
“This, though, looks like a child drew a zebra and put a United badge on it. And not even a talented child.”
United’s home and away kits are markedly better. The home jersey has a bit of a ‘school bus seat cover’ vibe about it, but from a distance it will still look sharp.

The black away kit is arguably the best of the bunch. That got a run out against Sevilla in the Europa League.
