The transfer saga of the summer is coming to an end
Liverpool are finally about to sign Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich after months of speculation.
According to Simon Hughes and James Pearce of The Athletic, a fee of around €30 million has been agreed between Liverpool and the Bundesliga giants.
The Spanish international has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield all summer, but the proposed deal was notable for its lack of movement or updates.
Recent reports had suggested that the Reds’ rivals Manchester United were interested in Thiago, a player they famously rejected the opportunity to sign during David Moyes ill-fated time at the club.
Thiago joined Bayern from Barcelona in 2013, and won the Bundesliga in each of his seasons at the club before finally securing the Champions League this summer, with a win over Paris Saint-Germain.
He will join a Liverpool side which has so far failed to strengthen meaningfully following their domination of the Premier League last season.
Left-back Kostas Tsimikas joined the club earlier this summer from Olympiakos and is so far the only signing they’ve made in the off-season.
