Here we go again
Wolverhampton Wanderers are “one step away” from signing Barcelona right-back Nelson Semedo, according to the oracle of transfers Fabrizio Romano.
According to the Italian journalist, Wolves and Barca are close to a €40 million agreement for the 26-year-old Portugal international, who ticks all the boxes for the Premier League side due to his nationality and the fact that he is a client of super agent Jorge Mendes.
Semedo, who has 13 caps for Portugal and has played more than 120 times for Barca since joining in 2017, will replace Matt Doherty, the Irish international who left Molineux for Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer.
Wolves are ‘one step away’ from signing Nelson Semedo. New bid submitted yesterday and Barcelona are now ready to accept. Work in progress also on personal terms to be agreed.
On next hours Barça are gonna sell Semedo to #Wolves and Vidal to #Inter. Here we go soon! 🐺 #FCB— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) September 20, 2020
His expected departure from Camp Nou is one of many expected at the club under new manager Ronald Koeman, who has also reportedly told highly rated youngster Riqui Puig that he can leave the club on loan.
His signing will represent something of a coup for Wolves, whose previously ever-present first XI has experienced an unusual level of upheaval during the transfer window.
As well as Doherty, the club also sold forward Diogo Jota to Liverpool for a fee believed to be £40 million. The club also signed 18-year-old FC Porto striker Fabio Silva for a reported fee of £35 million.
