There’s a subtle tug of the shirt, then there’s this: quite possibly the most magnificently unsubtle shirt-pull ever witnessed on a football pitch.
The man responsible, who has quite rightly earned viral status across the world for his actions, is Huachipato midfielder, César Valenzuela.
During a hard-fought 1-0 win over Colo-Colo in the Chilean Primera Division, Valenzuela took maximum advantage of the fact you can only get booked once for a single shirt-pull by latching on to Marcos Bolados’s shirt and holding on for an absolute eternity. Yes, it’s cheating, but you can only admire this.
There are already multiple videos of the incident in circulation on Twitter at present, but few do it justice quite like the one below. Maybe it’s the music, maybe it’s the way in which the camera zooms in on Valenzuela as he’s towed along the turf, grabbing on for dear life.
