Richarlison trolls Liverpool fans after 7-2 loss to Aston Villa

Richarlison couldn't resist getting a sneaky dig in at Liverpool fans after their humiliating 7-2 loss to Aston Villa on Sunday night

That’s the derby day team talk sorted

Liverpool lost 7-2 to Aston Villa on Sunday. 7-2. Seven. Two. We’re all still trying to get our heads around it. Liverpool defended horribly, missed Alisson dearly, pressed ineffectively and couldn’t pass through the lines with their usual swagger. Villa, meanwhile, looked like scoring every time they want forward, and almost did. Jack Grealish was at his sublime best and Ross Barkley was his usual wasteful self, but they still managed seven goals, in no small part thanks to brilliant Ollie Watkins.

As the world watched on, nobody could believe their eyes. The memes were ubiquitous, the schadenfreude relentless, the sense of disbelief never quite going away.

Everton fans might have enjoyed this game more than anyone bar Villa fans, as they enjoyed a rare opportunity to gloat against their city rivals from the top of the table.

Even Everton players couldn’t resist getting involved.

Richarlison, one of Everton’s best players in these opening few weeks of the season, posted a simple, yet brilliantly snide tweet after the game.

At face value, this is the blandest tweet in history. In context, it’s world class trolling.

The Brazilian posted a picture of himself during a game, with his shirt number (seven, get it) for everyone to see, as he points towards the Goodison Park scoreboard displaying the word ‘goal’. And a little fire emoji to go with it.

Obviously Everton fans and most other fans who dislike Liverpool loved it.

Liverpool fans will claim to be indifferent but it will have undoubtedly riled some of them up.

For the Liverpool players, it should prove to be effective motivation to make things right when the two Merseyside teams meet in the derby after the international break.

Everton coming off the back of a 7-2 defeat and Everton top of the league? Maybe this one won’t be so friendly.
