Jack Wilshere to have West Ham contract terminated

Sad news

Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is set to leave West Ham after it emerged on transfer deadline day that his contract would be terminated by mutual consent.

Wilshere had only made one appearance so far this season – in the 5-1 Carabao Cup win over Hull City – and 19 altogether in his time at the London Stadium. Sky Sports now report Wilshere will be released by the club.

The 28-year-old joined the Hammers two years ago but has been plagued by injury, struggling with problems with his groin and ankle.

Wilshere, an England international, would have been out of contract at the end of the current season.

A product of Arsenal’s youth system, Wilshere broke into the first team at The Emirates under Arsene Wenger. Injuries also played a hand in his eventual departure, after failing to reignite his Gunners career after a loan to Bournemouth in 2016-17.
