Cavani looks in top physical condition ahead of his United debut
Perhaps with good reason, many might have cast a cynical eye over Manchester United’s deadline day acquisition of Edinson Cavani.
Here is a player who, after spending his prime years with Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain, is now 33 and approaching the end of his career. Even if he keeps playing for another five years, he is unlikely to perform at the same level he once did.
After a shambolic window in which United had missed out on Jadon Sancho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s three other primary transfer targets, a last-ditch move for a well-known South American striker who might have seen better days drew plenty of comparisons with Radamel Falcao, who arrived in similar circumstances six years ago before an ill-fated season at Old Trafford.
It’s obviously best to judge Cavani only after he pulls on the famous red shirt for a first time, but if his Instagram Stories are anything to go by, the Uruguayan looks to be in phenomenal physical condition ahead of his United debut.
As well as a couple of videos of him putting in the hard yards on a treadmill, Cavani shared an image of himself post-work out which made it perfectly clear that he has been taking extremely good care of himself since leaving PSG in the summer.
Just look. Quite possibly the first human being to ever have a body fat percentage which is a minus.

Cavani is one of two Uruguayans to arrive at United this summer. Talented youngster Facundo Pellistri, who has been earning rave reviews under Diego Forlan at Peñarol, has also been added to Solskjaer’s ranks. Despite his tender years, he is also expected to go straight into United’s first team after initial speculation he may be loaned out.
