What is it with Manchester United and penalties in Paris?
Bruno Fernandes scored the first goal of Manchester United’s Champions League return from the spot away at Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night, though only at the second attempt.
A foul on Anthony Martial presented United with the chance to take a first-half lead at the Parc des Princes.
Fernandes, who missed his first penalty in 11 attempts for United at Newcastle over the weekend, saw his initial attempt saved by Keylor Navas.
A matter of seconds later, however, Fernandes was given the chance to re-take, with a VAR check confirming Navas had left his goal line before the penalty was taken.
This time, the Portugal international held his nerve, directing his penalty into the same corner in which his first attempt had been palmed away.
