City have their first January signing in place
One transfer window may only just have closed, but Manchester City have wasted little time in finalising their first bit of business for January.
Highly rated Serbian winger Filip Stevanovic is Etihad-bound in the new year after a tweet from his current club Partizan Belgrade confirmed a deal had been reached between the two sides.
The 18-year-old had been attracting interest from across Europe, with City’s near neighbours Manchester United also reported to have been in the running for his signature.
City will pay an initial fee of €8m for Stevanovic with a series of add-ons expected to follow.
‘FC Partizan is pleased to announce the transfer of Filip Stevanovic to @ManCity, in the winter transition period of 2021,’ a tweet from Partizan confirmed.
Stevanovic is a product of the Serbian side’s youth system and has made over 50 appearances for the club’s first team since making his debut as a 16-year-old two years ago. He has managed 12 goals for the club in that time.

The news, which has yet to be confirmed by City’s official Twitter account, broke as Pep Guardiola’s side were recording a hard-fought 1-0 win away at Sheffield United on Saturday.
Kyle Walker scored the only goal of the game against his boyhood club, helping City rise to eighth in the Premier League table after a mixed start to the new campaign.
